Don't y'all just love it that there is a Wiki for just about every weird interest we have?
I remember "back in the day" when the Steampunk movement was called "Neo-Victorian Gothic"; when I went from being the "weird chick in black" to "the goth girl" to the "neo-victorian girl".
Now we just slap a "-punk" suffix and let it go at that. I don't think it's right. There is something to be said for personal style that transcends a fashion/aesthetic movement; it's not just putting on oldie-timey clothing (and a pair of goggles and gearwork jewelry); it must look good on the wearer and make sense overall.
Not that I'm fashion police or anything; far from it! Wear what you like, but remember; just getting cool clothes does not make you cool - GIGO principle applies, though with a slight modification: frump in, frump out.
Feel the Neo-Victorian vibe inside and it will show even in a t-shirt and jeans; cool is as cool does.
