Batman: Arkham City is a 2011 action-adventure video game developed by Rocksteady Studios with a story written by veteran comic book author Paul Dini, Paul Crocker, and Sefton Hill. Based on the DC Comics superhero Batman, it is the sequel to the award winning 2009 video game Batman: Arkham Asylum.

As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Batman's home city, Gotham City, was built on top of an older city that utilized advanced technology before its time. The inhabitants of Wonder City used mechanical automatons and industrial-era video recording devices referred to as "memory tape".
